Problem Diagnosis
Compacted Soil
Compacted soil is not always defective: compaction may be desirable beneath a road and undesirable in a growing zone. Decide which purpose the soil serves before attempting to loosen it.

Plan the surface handover
BeforeIdentify the required use and investigate the affected layer.
Work stageDistinguish surface grade correction from agronomic decompaction or structural preparation.
AfterUse the appropriate cultivation or compaction method after grading.
What to verify
Check the relevant soil or engineering evidence rather than surface appearance.
Diagnosis should distinguish the visible symptom from its cause. Record whether the fault appeared after traffic, a water event, settlement or earlier earthworks. That history helps decide whether the response is a local surface correction, a drainage intervention or a more substantial investigation.
Scope and limits
A scraper does not measure density or establish root-zone condition.
Continue the job brief
Include the location, existing condition, intended surface, material, available tractor and proposed dates.
