Survey and verification compares the delivered surface with the brief before it is covered by the next layer. It should establish both compliant areas and defects.
Plan the surface handover
BeforeAgree the acceptance method and reference.
Work stageMeasure the actual profile and review the relevant material records for that layer.
AfterRecord accepted work and required corrections.
What to verify
Check the issued design revision and datum used for comparison.
Each project stage has a receiving operation and an acceptance question. Record what is complete, what remains and which reference the next team should use. Correct quantities before refining geometry, and do not cover an unaccepted layer simply to keep the sequence moving.
Scope and limits
A level survey cannot prove compaction, and a density test cannot prove grade.
Continue the job brief
Include the location, existing condition, intended surface, material, available tractor and proposed dates.
