Problem Diagnosis

Hard Ground

Hard ground is an operating condition that may limit cutting and traction. It does not justify forcing a deeper pass with an unsuitable tractor or implement.

Plan the surface handover

BeforeIdentify the material, moisture and buried-obstruction risk.
Work stageChoose shallower passes or an appropriate loosening operation where the design permits it.
AfterGrade the loosened workable material and check the resulting layer.

What to verify

Observe traction, blade response and whether the intended soil layer is being disturbed.

Diagnosis should distinguish the visible symptom from its cause. Record whether the fault appeared after traffic, a water event, settlement or earlier earthworks. That history helps decide whether the response is a local surface correction, a drainage intervention or a more substantial investigation.

Scope and limits

Rock, cemented material or deep excavation may need entirely different plant.
