Problem Diagnosis
Poor Irrigation Surface
An irrigation surface can be poor because of inlet mismatch, local depressions or altered field grade. The correction should follow water observations and measured levels.

Plan the surface handover
BeforeRecord water movement and survey supply, outlet and field features.
Work stageSeparate local touch-ups from a bay-wide regrade; preserve productive soil during the chosen intervention.
AfterRecheck levels and observe the next controlled irrigation.
What to verify
Check corners, row ends and the far end of the field.
Diagnosis should distinguish the visible symptom from its cause. Record whether the fault appeared after traffic, a water event, settlement or earlier earthworks. That history helps decide whether the response is a local surface correction, a drainage intervention or a more substantial investigation.
Scope and limits
Grading alone cannot correct an unsuitable water-delivery arrangement.
