Problem Diagnosis
Rough Earthworks
Rough earthworks may still contain broad quantity errors, loose fill and unresolved drainage. Fine trimming should begin only after the larger formation is understood.

Plan the surface handover
BeforeSurvey the bulk surface and identify unsuitable or unaccepted areas.
Work stageCorrect significant cut and fill first, then reduce pass depth as levels approach target.
AfterVerify the corrected formation before the next layer.
What to verify
Check areas where bulk machines turned, stockpiled or discharged material.
Diagnosis should distinguish the visible symptom from its cause. Record whether the fault appeared after traffic, a water event, settlement or earlier earthworks. That history helps decide whether the response is a local surface correction, a drainage intervention or a more substantial investigation.
Scope and limits
A finish pass cannot establish the suitability of buried fill.
Continue the job brief
Include the location, existing condition, intended surface, material, available tractor and proposed dates.
