Development process

Application Development Process

A disciplined path from problem to trial and, where justified, a production configuration.

1. Define

What is the recurring problem? Who experiences it? What happens before and after the proposed operation?

2. Measure

Establish dimensions, loads, soils/materials, tractor class, access, moisture, tolerances and relevant standards.

3. Configure

Consider width, mass, geometry, capacity, running gear, blade arrangement, materials and controls.

4. Trial

Test against defined criteria. Record limitations as well as successes.

5. Decide

If the concept proves useful and safe, document the configuration and determine the appropriate commercial pathway.

Evidence-led development process

Define the application first, document constraints, select the design envelope, prototype only the necessary change, then test against the actual work requirement. Standards should be identified by number and scope rather than used as generic marketing language.

Requirement

Area, material, tractor, finish, environment and logistics.

Engineering

Loads, hydraulics, interfaces, mass, width, materials and controls.

Validation

Field trials, measurements, operator feedback and documented revisions.
