Surface Planning

How Far Does Your Dirt Need to Move?

Haul distance is the distance material must travel from a cut to its actual receiving area. Straight-line map distance can understate the cycle when access, turns and unloading routes matter. Longer hauls increase travel time even when loading capacity is unchanged.

Plan the surface handover

BeforeLocate cut and fill areas and inspect the permitted traffic route.
Work stageMeasure loaded travel and empty return separately. Add loading, placement, turning and checking time before estimating output.
AfterChoose local balancing, staged stockpiles or another haul method where the route demands it.

What to verify

Use a timed trial with realistic loads and ground conditions.

Confirm the proposed configuration, worksite conditions and intended use before deployment. Describe the function required and assess it with the complete tractor and implement combination. Concept illustrations are not confirmation of available equipment or approved loading.

Scope and limits

A theoretical loads-per-hour figure is an operating assumption, not a guaranteed production rate.
