Survey, Design & Verification
Digital Terrain Models
A digital terrain model represents a surface from measured or designed data. It can guide cut-and-fill calculations, but poor boundaries and missing breaklines can create a misleading model.
Plan the surface handover
BeforeConfirm data source, coordinate system and model extent.
Work stageReview points, breaklines and interpolation around drains, banks and abrupt changes.
AfterIssue a controlled design model for the intended workflow.
What to verify
Compare selected model elevations with known field observations.
Keep the design reference and survey evidence traceable. State units, coordinate system, vertical datum and revision, then compare independent checks with the issued target. Surface measurements establish geometry; they do not establish the material quality of a buried layer.
Scope and limits
A model image is not proof of survey accuracy or a certified design.
