Survey, Design & Verification
Surveying for Land Grading
Surveying for grading establishes the relationship between the site and the intended surface. Machine guidance can assist work, but the survey determines the reference against which results are checked.
Plan the surface handover
BeforeDefine the survey area, control and required deliverables.
Work stageCapture terrain features, critical levels and breaklines using a method suited to the brief.
AfterUse the survey to prepare the design and later acceptance checks.
What to verify
Retain the datum, units and control-point descriptions.
Keep the design reference and survey evidence traceable. State units, coordinate system, vertical datum and revision, then compare independent checks with the issued target. Surface measurements establish geometry; they do not establish the material quality of a buried layer.
Scope and limits
A topographic survey and a legal boundary survey serve different purposes.
