Survey, Design & Verification

What Verification Evidence Proves

Verification evidence should answer the acceptance question asked. Elevation measurements establish geometry; material records and relevant tests address layer condition. Neither should be silently substituted for the other.

Plan the surface handover

BeforeDefine the checks needed for the finished purpose.
Work stageRecord method, locations, datum, design revision and relevant material evidence.
AfterHand over accepted areas and clearly identify exceptions.

What to verify

Check that the evidence concerns the same layer and work zone.

Keep the design reference and survey evidence traceable. State units, coordinate system, vertical datum and revision, then compare independent checks with the issued target. Surface measurements establish geometry; they do not establish the material quality of a buried layer.

Scope and limits

An instrument display is not a complete acceptance record.
