Surface Planning

Weight That Works

Working weight influences cutting, traction and ground loading, but weight alone does not establish grading performance. Ballast, a carried load and attachment weight also change the demands on the tractor, hitch and tyres. Consider the complete combination in both loaded and empty states.

Plan the surface handover

BeforeObtain the machine weights, hitch limits and tractor information.
Work stageCheck weight distribution, braking, drawbar loading and soil support. Compare the cutting task with the available traction and hydraulic control.
AfterUse a controlled trial to establish a workable pass depth.

What to verify

Observe slipping, rutting and unstable handling before chasing greater load.

Confirm the proposed configuration, worksite conditions and intended use before deployment. Describe the function required and assess it with the complete tractor and implement combination. Concept illustrations are not confirmation of available equipment or approved loading.

Scope and limits

More weight may damage soft ground and does not make a machine suitable for every tractor.
