Dry Soil Grading
Dry-soil grading can increase dust and produce hard clods or loose material depending on the soil. The working method should match the material rather than assume dryness is always desirable.

Plan the surface handover
BeforeAssess dust, cutting response and material condition.
Work stageUse suitable pass depth and any approved conditioning method; maintain safe visibility and stable traction.
AfterPrepare the formed layer for its intended use.
What to verify
Observe dust, spill and whether the placed material retains its shape.
Material roles matter as much as surface levels. Growing medium, structural fill and pavement aggregate should not be treated as interchangeable simply because all can be moved by a scraper. The preparation and acceptance method must follow the intended layer.
Scope and limits
Water application and dust equipment need their own controlled operating method.
