Root-Affected Soil
Root-affected soil can contain retained tree roots, removed vegetation debris or remnants of a crop. Identify which condition applies before choosing a preparation method.

Plan the surface handover
BeforeMark protected root zones and locate services.
Work stageRemove or manage debris according to the project requirements before grading suitable soil; avoid dragging material through retained roots.
AfterPrepare the corrected layer for the next operation.
What to verify
Inspect for snagging, buried debris and unintended damage.
Material roles matter as much as surface levels. Growing medium, structural fill and pavement aggregate should not be treated as interchangeable simply because all can be moved by a scraper. The preparation and acceptance method must follow the intended layer.
Scope and limits
Do not treat a protected tree-root zone as unrestricted earthmoving ground.

Include the location, existing condition, intended surface, material, available tractor and proposed dates.
